What is Microdermabrasion?

January 6, 2018

Why is Microdermabrasion so effective in restoring a youthful glow? How does Microdermabasion leave skin smoother, clearer and pores more refined? And just what does it have to do with diamonds? Let's take a closer look.

Microdermabrasion provides excellent manual exfoliation to reveal fresh, healthy cells and speed cellular turnover.

What is Cellular Turnover?

The cells in our skin are designed to naturally and regularly renew.

Dead skin cells are shed through a process commonly called cellular turnover or cellular renewal.

A new skin cell starts out in the the deepest layer of the epidermis. This cell travels up through the epidermis until it reaches the outermost layer of the skin. Once there, this cell has changed into a flat, dry husk commonly known as a dead skin cell. Dead skin cells are shed away when younger skin cells push through from below.

As we age the natural rate of cellular renewal slows down dramatically. When we are babies it takes a mere 2 weeks, and once we are teens just 3 to 4. As we reach our thirties, the process slows drastically, taking 45 to 60 days. Past age fifty, the process of cellular turnover slows to a crawl, taking anywhere from 60 to 90 days.

Diamonds to the rescue!

Microdermabrasion exfoliates the skin removing the outer layer of dead, lackluster cells and speeding the process of cellular renewal.

Using a wand tipped with laser cut diamonds, Microdermabrasion gently and effectively polishes and resurfaces the skin. The diamonds exfoliate skin effectively yet gently enough to treat delicate areas near the eyes, nose, and mouth. Even those with sensitive skin can enjoy the benefits of this treatment with no downtime.

One Microdermabrasion treatment will leave skin brighter, clearer, and restore a more youthful glow. A series of treatments will provide the best results. Over time with continued Microdermabrasion treatments expect to see softening of fine lines and scars, refined pores and a more even tone.
